Funding Sets Wheels in Motion for Trust

Accrington Stanley Community Trust have received a grant of £20,000 from the Postcode Community Trust which has helped fund a brand new community minibus.

The minibus will enable the Trust to transport disadvantaged people to activities across east Lancashire which will address personal well-being, self-esteem, self-confidence, resilience and reduce social isolation, providing beneficiaries with the support they need. It will strengthen the effectiveness of the Trust’s various projects, sustain engagement and more beneficiaries will go on to sustainable outcomes. The primary users will be disabled children, young people from areas of deprivation and older socially isolated adults.

Martin Fearon, CEO of the Trust said ‘’this minibus will be a huge benefit to our local community and promote a healthier lifestyle through sport by encouraging individuals to take part in fun sport based activities. It will allow our charity to provide a number of extra activities that we don’t currently deliver as well as supporting existing provision.

Hyndburn is in the top 10% of deprivation in the country and therefore many people in the area have limited opportunities due to barriers such as finance and transport. This project will allow us to provide transport to over 250 positive, engaging and fun sessions for beneficiaries who have had much less provision opportunities than others.’’

This project has been made possible by a grant from Postcode Community Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. www.postcodecommunitytrust.org.uk
