Futsal Satellite Clubs in 2017!

Futsal Satellite Clubs (Funded via Lancashire Sport)

Throughout 2017 we have been into every high school in Hyndburn and many high schools in the Ribble Valley and Rossendale putting on our Futsal Satellite Clubs. Futsal has the advantage of being a small sided game which means less players and therefore more touches of the ball and s faster paced exciting game!

These sessions have the intention to promote Futsal within high schools for those currently playing sport but also for those who may not play currently too. Throughout this year we reward students with prizes for getting involved such as T shirts, Bottles and Sports bags provided by Lancashire Sport. Those showing good attendance, quality performances or for showing great effort to improve have been rewarded! Many of the participants also received tickets to come down and watch Accrington Stanley and two luck participants got a full Stanley Strip!

These sessions also have the aim to utilise our own BTEC students as volunteers to lead the sessions and gain experience in being a leader. They will then continue to either run the session with the community trust or work with the school to assist them in covering the session. Many of our students were able to acquire over 100 hours of volunteering and so were put forward to attend Lancashire Sport’s Satellite Club Volunteering Programme which resulted in them receiving a bursary to apply for a sports coaching qualification of their choice.

Oliver, Seb & Patryk reached 100 hours volunteering!

Our Football Development Officer Matt Parkinson explained “Lancashire Sport have given us a great opportunity to provide local Year 10 and 11 students the chance to play Futsal. It is a sport which can give those who don’t like the larger format of Football a chance to have more involvement and therefore more fun”
