  1. Job Summary (The main purpose of the job)

To take a lead role on the Kinder Move and Learn project and deliver high quality community coaching for all ages throughout Lancashire. Whilst delivering for Accrington Stanley Community Trust you will enable individuals to develop their abilities to their potential and enjoy physical activity which will encourage them to sustain activity levels. Coaches will also promote positive healthy lifestyle choices and deliver educational messages through the median of football and sport through coaching. Our work will be focused delivering within primary/secondary school settings. The role will include regular liaison with schools across Hyndburn, Ribble Valley and Rossendale. This role also requires the holder to work under the jurisdiction of the Sport Development Officer.

There is also an expectation that the Community Sports Officer will hold a minimum of a FA level 2 qualification in football coaching.  In addition, 1 year previous experience working with children and young people in a school or community setting is essential.  The role also requires a dedication to work on weekends, evenings and match days should the charity require. There is a minimum requirement for the holder to have a full valid UK driving licence with business insurance as travelling across East Lancashire and other areas will be part of this role.

  1. Duties

8.1 To undertake a lead role with the Kinder Move and Learn project on behalf of Accrington Stanley Community Trust and deliver the project in around 25 local primary schools (ASCT).

8.2 Planning and delivering high quality sports sessions that cover a range of skills and techniques.

8.3 Planning and delivering of school holiday programmes that cover a range of sports such as football, cricket, dodgeball, and handball etc.

8.4 Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed and implemented for all schools participating in schools programmes during academic year.

8.5 To assist the delivery of ASCT activities which take place at all Accrington Stanley Football Club home fixtures.

8.6 Carry out any reasonable liaison with schools/community groups, attending meeting for future services required from schools, colleges and community groups.

8.7 To support the Community Manager on any new or existing projects when required.

8.8 To support the Sport Development Officer in the delivery of other projects when required.

8.9 Working alongside local schools to prepare pupils a range of events and competitions.

8.10 To provide the Community Manager and Sport Development Officer with monthly reports, which will enable all sport related activity to be effectively monitored and evaluated and collect accurate information that will be entered into the Football League Trust’s data management system in order to monitor participation and the delivery of activities involving young people.

8.11 To support the creation of promotional materials that will enable the effective advertising of all sport related activities to local schools.

8.12 Oversee, report and then resolve any issues with schools to the Senior Sport and Education Development Officer and Senior

8.13 To attend meetings and CPD events when required to by the Community Manager.

8.14 To promote the brand of Accrington Stanley to increase awareness in both the Community Trust and the Football Club.

Minimum Requirements:

  • FA Level Two Qualification in Football Coaching
  • 1 years previous experience working with children and young people in a school or community setting
  • Full valid UK driving licence with access to car during work hours
  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent

Desirable:

  • AFPE L3 Award in PE and School Sport.
  • Level 2 Coaching Qualifications in a variety of Sports.
