Saturday 22nd April saw us enter a team into the National Walking football Cup for the very first time.
The competition was for players aged 50+ and our team was made of from those that attend our popular Friday session held at Hyndburn LC. The team battled bravely all day but didn’t manage to qualify for knock out stages. The Stanley team played games against Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers, Carlisle Utd and Wigan Athletic.
The tournament will be an annual event so preparations now begin for next year’s tournament when we will have a few old scores the settle!
If you are interested in taking up football it is open to males and females aged 50+ and our weekly session’s takes place every Friday 1:30-3pm at Hyndburn Leisure Centre and tea/coffee and biscuits are provided after the session. For more info please contact 01254 304071.
