Players go back to school

Students at Huncoat primary school received a surprise yesterday afternoon from a number of Accrington Stanley first team players.

Sean McConville, Terry Gornell, Mark Hughes and Scott Brown took part in the Move and Learn session for years 5 and 6. The players were grilled by the children with questions which ranged from what their goal celebrations were all the way through to what they eat before a match as well as what they eat after a match.

Josh Cooper, Community Sports Officer commented,’ it’s great being able to have the players come and take part in the sessions that the Trust carry out in the community. It was great to see the children asking questions relating to the Move and Learn programme as well as general interest questions.’

The Kinder + Sport Move and Learn Programme aims to encourage young children to be more active as well as giving them information about the importance of nutrition. The 90 minute session is split in to two sections, one half is classroom based where the other is a practical session.
