This September has seen another record year for new students joining us on our BTEC and Degree programme.

The classrooms at the Stanley Sports Hub are now busier than ever with over 70 BTEC and degree students using them through out the week. We have welcomed 30 new college students to the Hub as well as having 21 continuing students. The Foundation Degree programme has also seen a record intake, with 15 first year students enrolling across our two path ways; Football Coaching and Development and Sports Coaching and Development. 100% of first year students are progressing to their second year, with our first ever cohort entering the third year of their BSc Honours Degree.

‘We are delighted at how our education provision is expanding, allowing us to provide a unique college environment to people in Hyndburn and surrounding areas. We now have more students than ever studying a variety of sport related courses, and with the increase in numbers, this also allows us to provide further employment opportunities’

It has been a busy start to the academic year for students as they settle into college life.  They have commenced their training routine with football sessions 3 times per week in their respective squads, as well as playing games against Manchester United, Rochdale, Blackpool and Wigan. All squads have been involved in Strength and Conditioning sessions at Jetts gym, who have kindly offered a discounted membership rate exclusively to our students at Accrington Stanley Football College. Guest speakers from Accrington Stanley’s Academy will visit the students in the coming weeks and talk to them about career opportunities within Sport and Football upon completion of their studies.

With student numbers growing year on year, we have also invested in the staffing team to ensure we provide students with an excellent environment, both on the pitch and in the classroom. In 2019, the department had three members of full time staff working across the programme. This number has now increased to SEVEN members of full time staff, providing support and expertise across teaching, coaching and pastoral care.
