Easter Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF)

Easter Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF)

This Easter we have again teamed up with Hyndburn Borough Council alongside many other providers in the local area to ensure that children who receive free school meals are able to access free lunches and sports provision in the run up to Easter.

The Holiday Activities & Food Programme (HAF) is a  government funded project that is run through local councils alongside local providers up and down the country to make sure that the needs of the community are met. The project aims to make free holiday course places available to children eligible for benefits-related free school meals for 4 days during the Easter holidays . (4th April – 7th April)

Our provision will be held at St Chrsitophers High School, Queens Rd W, Church, Accrington BB5 4AY from 9am to 3pm. The children attending will have had access to a healthy lunch and sport sessions led by qualified coaches, in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Lee Walsh commented, ‘being able to offer this support to local families that can find school holidays a difficult time due to increased food bills or child care cost. HAF has allowed us to increase our offer to those that need it most. Holiday clubs can have a positive impact on children by enabling them to learn new skills, socialise and enjoy healthy food in a safe environment’.
