£5m Stanley Sports Hub Expansion Vision Revealed

Accrington Stanley Community Trust can exclusively reveal their ambitions of expanding the Stanley Sports Hub with the addition of a new £5m leisure facility.

The new proposed complex will be situated on the top section of Higham Playing Fields adjacent to the current building.

Plans include an indoor 3G football pitch, multi-use community spaces, multi-use games areas, exercise studio and a gym, along with a number of other amenities to enhance the current facilities which opened in March 2020.

Speaking about the new plans, a spokesperson for Accrington Stanley Community Trust said: ‘’The new plans show our vision of expanding the facilities at the Stanley Sports Hub to engage further with the local community. The health & wellbeing of our community is very important to us and we want to play our part in providing additional top-class facilities for everybody to access.

We’re at the very early stages of this proposed development and we will be consulting with key stakeholders and the community over the coming months.’’

Cllr Miles Parkinson commented on the new plans and said: ‘’This new proposed scheme by Accrington Stanley Community Trust will complement investment across Hyndburn recently announced by the Council of £10 million by Hyndburn Leisure Trust.

This further announcement shows the drive of the Council and Accrington Stanley Community Trust to deliver first class facilities never seen before in Hyndburn to address health through activity’’.
