An action packed week for the Trust

Last Saturday saw the start of another busy week here at the Trust with lots of different activities taking place.

Alongside being match day, which resulted in a 1-1 draw against Cambridge United, it was Blake Liversedge birthday. Blake had a Stanley party which included a special visit from Winstanley as well as being the home team mascot. If your child’s birthday is coming up, why not have a Stanley party! Moving on to the fun filled week, we have had our holiday clubs taking place every day this week at Accrington Academy. The Activity club and Soccer school clubs have been running all week 9am to 3pm for all aged four to twelve years. The activity club have been keeping our staff busy with their wonderful creations in the arts and craft sessions as well as taking part in multi sports sessions, quizzes and playing giant board games. Meanwhile the soccer school have been taught different skill sets everyday as well as taking place in small sided games and trying their new skills in tournaments. To round the holiday courses up an inflatable target game was set up for both the activity club and soccer school to take part in. The holiday clubs will next run from the 31st May to the 3rd June 2016 http://www.stanleytrust.co.uk/holiday-courses/

While the holiday clubs were taking place, it was the last week of term for many schools which meant fun sessions and certificates for all.

Our Stanley Soccer leagues, which are affiliated with Lancashire FA, have continued to run on Monday and Wednesday with over 400 people taking part. We have two slots available for new teams to enter one of our leagues if you interested in entering a team, please submit a form online: http://www.stanleytrust.co.uk/enter-team/

While all this has been happening, our National Citizenship Service (NCS) team have been busy in preparation for the spring programme that goes away to The Lakes on Sunday morning as well as recruiting more 16 to 17year olds for their summer programme. The spring programme goes away for a four day residential trip which can include: abseiling, canoeing, kayaking, mountain trailing, and water sports just to name a few! Once they are back in Accrington they will take part in a social action workshop. Sound interesting? These sessions will run until the 17th June 6pm to 8pm with our qualified coaches delivering the coaching and holding informal competitions on the new 3G pitch. Martin Fearon Community Manager said: ‘Friday night football is our newest project and the first session was attended by 16 young people, it’s great to see these young people engaged in football and playing in a safe environment’.

Phew! What a busy week, see you again next week!
