ASCT College v Bradford City

On Wednesday, Stanley overcame an early setback to record an impressive win over their Yorkshire visitors.

The home side had made the better start with sustained pressure on the Bradford goal, however the first blow of the game was struck by Bradford.

A long pass over the top played havoc with the Reds’ defence, and sensing an opportunity, the Bantams’ forward latched onto the ball and showed great composure to lift it over the onrushing Stanley goalkeeper, with the ball then slowly bouncing into the empty net.

This setback did not deter the home side as before half-time, the complexion of the match had completely changed.

Goals from Ethan Gordon and Oscar Nolan made sure the Reds went into the interval with a hard-fought lead.

Not content with just the one goal lead, Stanley toiled away in the second half looking to extend their advantage, getting their reward in the 70th minute.

A corner was floated straight onto Bradley Boyer’s head and he took his opportunity with aplomb, powering a header into the top corner past the stranded Bradford goalkeeper.

Seeing out the final 20 minutes comfortably, the young Reds capped off a fine performance with a fourth goal. Finding some space 30 yards from goal, Seb Radler struck a swerving effort which deceived the opposition goalkeeper and dipped into the net. A fine goal to wrap up a fine performance.

That would be the last action of the match as Stanley secured a 4-1 victory. Thanks to Bradford City Football Development Programme for coming down and good luck for the rest of the season.
