Stanley manager and former teacher Coleman went to Huncoat Primary School with skipper Luke Joyce and defender Nicky Hunt to face questions from the a group of pupils.

Eight of the pupils, including three from the club’s Academy, will represent Accrington Stanley at Wembley before the play-off final on Saturday 23rd May after the school won the Kinder+Sports Kids Cup League Two North Regional Final, thanks to Accrington Stanley Community Trust.

“I am slightly jealous of them as I have never played at Wembley,” said Joyce. “The gaffer hogged the questions but we all enjoyed it.

“The kids asked some questions the media would never have got away with so it was nice to see the gaffer’s reaction.”

Coleman faced questions and team selection, superstitions, how the youngsters should deal with their day out at Wembley and more.

“It was great – it brought back a lot of memories for me,” said Coleman. “I know teaching is a hard profession but I always enjoyed it with the enthusiasm and innocence of the kids.

“It was great when the kids have a light bulb moment when something they have been struggling with clicks – mind you I have that with some of footballers as well!

“It’s superb that Huncoat Primary School are the first Accrington team to go to Wembley – hopefully we can follow in their footsteps!”

The Huncoat Primary school team are managed by teacher Nicki Wilcox and head teacher Sean Crosier was delighted his pupils were put under the spotlight with Sky Sports, North West Tonight and Granada Reports filming the ‘press conference.’

“It was great that Accrington Stanley came to the school and our young footballers got the chance to ask them questions – it should help their Wembley experience which we are all excited about,” said Mr Crosier.

The boys will be playing against the Southern League 2 Winners from Portsmouth. Good luck to all the boys as well as teachers Sean & Nicki!
