BTEC: September Monthly Review

BTEC: September Monthly Review

Education

September saw students coming from all areas and backgrounds around Hyndburn, Rossendale and Ribble Valley, to begin their time studying at the Wham stadium, studying for a BTEC in Sport Qualification.

Our level 2 students have been working with Jake Francis and the level 3’s with our Head of Education Greg Aspin. They’ve all been working hard getting straight into their upcoming assignments.

Many of our students have also been taking part in volunteering opportunities at our sessions around schools and also on match days selling programmes and even being Winstanley!

Practical

All of our students have been participating in training every day of the week working with our Head Coach Matt Parkinson. They’ve not only been working on the technical sides of their game but also on their Fitness too.

Our students have taken part in a number of fixtures this month with our new students participating in the EFL Futsal Festival vs a number of different teams including Blackpool, Rochdale, Fleetwood and Preston. For many of them it was their first experience of Futsal, but despite this they played with great effort.

The football squad have also had games vs Blackburn and Blackpool A and B, finishing with two wins and a loss and find themselves sitting third in the table. The highlight of the three games was a wonderful goal by Alex Bell scoring from a volley from 35 yards out.

Football Development Officer, Matt Parkinson, commented: “All of our students have shown great effort throughout the first month of training and have been taking what we have been working on into games. We now need to maintain the high standards we set in training and games as we head into October and the rest of the season”.

Coming up in October we have Round Two of the Futsal Development league and our football squad face off against Carlisle and Preston North End. Our students will be travelling to all of our away games in our BRAND NEW minibus too.
