Female Football Education Scholarship

Accrington Stanley Community Trust introduced a football education scholarship programme in September 2012. Last year in 2017 was the first year we accepted girls onto the course. ASCT provide a unique opportunity for 16-19 year olds who enjoy football to pursue a career in sports.

Our courses are designed to bring out the best in our scholars and your academic progression is taken as seriously as your sporting development.

Courses

The BTEC Level 2 is a 1 year course which involves education, work experience, practical training and matches. The minimum requirements for this course are 2 D’s or above at GCSE level. Students who enrol onto this programme will study with us for 12 months, when they complete the qualification they will start the BTEC Level 3 programme the following academic year.

The BTEC Level 3 in Sport is a 2 year course which involves education, work experience, practical training and matches. The Btec Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport – Equivalent to 3 A-Levels and allows entrance to University

Training and Matches

Not only do you get your education but you also have the chance to train like a professional club would. Training will take place in the form of three 90 minute sessions per week at Hyndburn Leisure Centre by Accrington Stanley coaches. Training is designed to replicate the environment of a young professional sports person, and includes technical and tactical development as an individual and as a team member.

An integral part of player development is to participate in competitive fixtures in Football and Futsal. Student on the Football Education Scholarship come together to play regular fixtures as part of the EFL Futsal League. Players represent their club wearing the current club kit, having the opportunity to play against other professional club teams.

Accrington Stanley Ladies

As a scholar on the course you have the opportunity to join Accrington Stanley Ladies, who are a new team are competing in the Lancashire FA County Women’s League. They train once a week and match day is on a Sunday, led by qualified coaches and volunteers.
