From Accrington to Europe…. Almost!

From Accrington to Europe…. Almost!

Local students and footballers from Hyndburn and surrounding areas received the exciting opportunity to witness live champion’s league action at the home of the current Premier League champions, Manchester City. The Community Trust made two trips to the Etihad Stadium this term to watch Man City’s games against Atalanta and Shakhtar Donetsk in the group stages of the prestigious European tournament.

The first trip was organised for young people who are currently studying on our Full time college football course. The trip was a reward for the efforts within the first term of the year, and links well with the playing side of the programme, where the students train 3 times a week, and play in weekly fixtures against other professional clubs.

The second fixture offered the same opportunity, but this time it was the turn of the new group, as current year 11 students who have already signed up for next year’s course were invited. The opportunity was in high demand, and was a great way for the young people to integrate with each other before they study and play together full time. The players who attended were selected from local grassroots Under 16’s teams, with Huncoat United, Rishton United, Globe Bullough Park, Ossy St Mary’s and Junior Hoops amongst the clubs represented.

If you enjoy Sport and Football, and would like the opportunity to study, train and play when you leave school, fill in the form via the link (https://www.stanleytrust.co.uk/apply/) and a member of our Education team will be in touch to reserve your place on our college football course starting September 2020.

Keep your eyes peeled for a BIG announcement coming soon….
