Funding Secured for Disability Sport

Accrington Stanley Community Trust have secured a grant of £9,930 from the National Lottery Awards for All fund which will enable the Trust to provide more opportunities for disabled people in sport.

This funding will create over 100 free disability sport sessions across east Lancashire in 2018, addressing personal wellbeing, self-esteem, self-confidence, resilience, reducing social isolation and providing beneficiaries with the support they need.

The disability sport sessions are specifically designed for individuals with a range of physical and mental disabilities. The Trust have an excellent reputation for caring and inspiring disabled people. All sessions are led by staff that are experienced and confident in working with people with disabilities.

Martin Fearon, CEO of the Trust said ‘’this new project will be a huge benefit to our local community by providing free opportunities for disabled children and encouraging individuals to take part in fun sport based activities. It will allow our charity to provide a number of extra activities that we don’t currently deliver.’’

This project is due to start in February 2018 and we will be posting further updates over the coming months.
