Get Set To Go with Stanley

Accrington Stanley Community Trust are starting an exciting programme in partnership with Lancashire Mind and Lancashire Care Foundation Trust called Get Set To Go in January 2017.

Get Set To Go uses exercises to overcome barriers for people, who may be suffering with a mental health problem. Get Set To Go provides one to one support, team-work exercises and finding the right physical activity for you.

Community Trust Manager, Martin Fearon believes Get Set To Go is an excellent programme for participants to build confidence as it boosts social skills. He said, “Get Set To Go is aimed at improving the participants social barriers by taking part in fun filled football activities. The sessions are open to anyone who feels they need a more inclusive environment which the Get Set To Go programme will provide.”

Liam Challenger, who is the Sport & Physical Activity Coordinator for Get Set To Go added, “The programme aims to improve the lives of people with mental health problems by breaking down the barriers to sport and physical activity. Get Set To Go allows for participants to enjoy sport in a friendly, supportive environment which caters for all levels of ability. Participants will benefit from improved mental and physical wellbeing.’

The Community Restart Team at Lancashire Care Foundation Trust will help identify key groups to work alongside and signpost participants to the project.

Get Set To Go starts on Wednesday 11th January 2017 from 1:30pm – 2:30pm at Hyndburn Leisure Centre. The sessions are open to male and females aged 18 or over and costs just £2 per session.
