The Coronavirus Pandemic has affected lots of us in many different ways. Everyone has had to adapt to different ways of living. Unfortunately, for many people this has led to finding themselves out of work. Many employers have struggled to keep staff and a lot of businesses have had to close their doors permantly resulting in many people being out of work.
Here at Accrington Stanley Community Trust the pandemic has changed everything. Our departments have had to modify their programmes, certain staff were furloughed and most importantly our events and primary school coaching sessions which is a huge of our work; had to be postponed.
In partnership with the EFL Trust we have had the opportunity to join the Kickstart scheme allowing us to help young adults find work and gain vital new experiences in the local area. We have been able to provide a wide variety of job opportunities giving 12 young adults the opportunity to work again.
Madeleine Gardiner, found herself out of work when the small independent shop she worked for closed due to the pandemic. “Through my life I have only had experience of working in a primary school and a shop doing my digital marketing apprenticeship. When I saw the advertisement for a kick start Administration Assistant at Accrington Stanley Community Trust, I had only heard good things about the trust and I wanted to expand my experience in a different job role as I still didn’t know what career path I wanted to go down. This role has benefited me so much I now have Admin experience, I have been able to use my digital marketing skills and gain more experience of working with children by helping out with the Holiday courses we run over the school holidays. The kickstart scheme has helped me so much it has made me realise Admin is a role that I am interested in and could be a potential career to go into. Working at Accrington Stanley Community Trust has been the best place to work and they really take care of their employees and kick starters, they have given me so much experience and really helped and cared about my future by giving me as much experience as possible. I will take with me everything I have learnt through my career and I will remember the kick start programme helped me through the toughest time and got me back into work.”
