After receiving funding from Sport England we are pleased to announce the introduction of our new female walking football sessions held at St Christopher’s High School, Accrington.
- Wednesday’s 6.30pm-7.30pm. Female Walking football @ St Christopher’s High School. Cost £3
Head of Sport Lee Walsh explains ‘’this new funding means we can give more women the opportunity to get involved in physical activity through walking football in a fun and friendly environment. As well as the weekly sessions there will be the opportunity to represent Accrington Stanley in various events & festivals over the year for those that would like to.’’
Walking football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and is great way for those over the age of 45 to stay active and continue to play the sport they love.
Anne Elwood, a walking football regular commented ‘Walking football is for all and nothing should stop you from giving it a go! It’s a great way to meet new friends, have fun and score some great goals! It keeps you fit and active so come along and take part, just do it!
Accrington Stanley Community Trust now cater for female football from age 2 upwards.
We strongly encourage anybody to come and have a go, it doesn’t matter about your previous experience or ability, the sessions are fun and inclusive.
