New FA Weetabix Wildcats

New FA Weetabix Wildcats

This week we have launched our Weetabix FA Wildcats sessions!

The partnership aims to inspire over 1600 girls to take up football in their local community with the help of EFL Club Community Organizations across the country, all with the same goal to bring the joy and excitement of football to girls aged 6 and over.

At Accrington Stanley Community Trust, we have 3 FA Wildcats sessions running; two at our state-of-the-art Stanley Sports Hub and another at our local Spring Hill Primary School. This time will be our third time running the FA Wildcats sessions and our first since COVID. Being able to bring people together again with an inclusive and fun football session to the community after a long and difficult pandemic is exactly what we are here to do.

The FA Wildcats sessions also provide a pathway for young girls who want to progress into a career in sport, with direct paths from these sessions into the Accrington Stanley Women FC potentially available for the most talented and determined participants.

Lauren Turner, who has been delivering our FA Wildcats sessions, said “The sessions have always been great and running them is a real pleasure! The girls all share a huge love of football, with the upcoming Women’s Euros being a particular point of interest. The ability levels of the girls that show up are seriously impressive, hopefully we have some future Lionesses on our hands!”.

As always, we are extremely excited to be delivering these sessions over the next 16 weeks and we can’t wait for what’s to come!

The FA Wildcats sessions run Monday evenings from 5-6PM at Accrington Academy High School for 4-6 year olds and also 6-7pm on Mondays for 7-12 year olds at the Stanley Sports Hub.
