Over 200 Enjoy Free Summer Camps

Over 300 children enjoyed free summer sports sessions delivered by Accrington Stanley Community Trust.

Throughout the summer we held free football sessions in Hyndburn in partnership with the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Hyndburn Borough Council at Higham Playing Fields, Accrington, Foxhill Playing Fields, Oswaldtwistle, Bolton Avenue Playing Fields, Huncoat and Wilson Playing Fields, Clayton-le-moors which saw over 300, eight to fifteen year olds attend.

The sessions kept the youngsters active and participating in a community activity for two hours through 1 v 1 challenges, small sided games along with tournaments and penalty shoot outs. It was fantastic to see so much interest by local children in these sessions from those that had played football before to those that haven’t had much footballing experience.

Lee Walsh, Head of Sport commented, ‘It was great to see so many of the local youngsters come down to the sessions and keep themselves active in their summer holidays. I would like to thank Yvonne at the Neighbourhood Policing Team and LANPAC who have been instrumental in getting this project off the ground, along with Hyndburn Borough Council for providing the facilities. Hopefully we can inspire the next set of Stanley fans!
