SSE Wildcat Sessions Roar into Action

SSE Wildcat Sessions Roar into Action

Accrington Stanley Community Trust launched their SSE Wildcat sessions in Hyndburn this term.

This year we have launched 2 new SSE Girls Wildcat Centres to engage with more girls in the wider community to further develop their interest in football, we have also continued one of our previous SSE Girls Wildcat Centres which is on a Monday night 6pm-7pm at Hyndburn Leisure Centre this session is open to any girls aged 4-16 to attend. Our aim is to introduce girls to football and develop their interest in the sport through fun games and a relaxed atmosphere.

SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centres from The FA will provide local girls with regular opportunities to play football. The initiative offers organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls. More than 200 clubs have been established throughout England in 2017 and a further 800 are set to launch in 2018.

SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football sessions take place on a weekly basis, either after school or at weekends, and provide a safe environment where girls can try football for the first time. SSE and The FA hope the initiative will inspire participants to engage with football, meet new friends, develop fundamental skills, learn new things and create the foundation for a lifelong love of football.

Elle Kayley, Female Sports Coordinator commented, ‘It’s great to offer them an insight into football though these sessions and hopefully we can encourage them along their sporting pathway through introducing them to our girls development centre and potential into our up and coming Stanley Girls teams. It’s great to see girls taking part in the games that haven’t played before and hopefully develop their love of the game.’
