Stanley Community Trust Boost Female Football Participation

Accrington Stanley Community Trust Girls and Ladies were formed in 2017 with the introduction of the first ladies team for Accrington Stanley.

The aim of the girls and ladies team is to increase female participation in football while encouraging them to live a healthy and active lifestyle.  The trust want to help to developed young footballers and build their skills and self-confidence in a safe and secure environment.

After the success of our ladies team, who after two years of being formed have won promotion last season to the North West Women’s Regional League North. It was decide that the Trust will expand and provide more opportunities for girls to play at all age ranges.

In 2019 our girls U8’s, U9’s and U10’s teams were introduced, and who all train every week and play football in the English League Football Alliance. We also introduced an older girl’s session with the hope of launching an U13s team in the new season in 2020. We want all girls in the local area to have the opportunity to play football.

This autumn has seen another new addition, ‘Acorns’ which is a development centre for 4 to 6 year olds. This session is focused on teaching girls the basics of football, such as rules, technical of passing just to name a few. Again, we are trying to create a fun loving environment which the girls feel comfortable as well as providing quality coaching to help improve all ages.

We would kindly like to thank all the coaches, managers and committee for volunteering their time and effort to help providing the best environment for these girls and ladies to develop in. If you or someone that you know would like to play for a team or volunteer as a coach please email asctladies@stanleytrust.co.uk or call 01254 304071.
