Stanley Futsal qualify for Soccer AM Cup

The wait is finally over! Today at FLT Futsal headquarters, Accrington Stanley Futsal found out who their opponents will be in the 2nd edition of the Soccer AM Cup Tournament.

The Soccer AM Futsal Cup is in its second year of running and after qualifying this time last year, the much expanded competition sees all 48 Futsal squads, in each of the seven regional leagues and split into North and South areas, seeded depending on league position midway through the season. Having qualified in 6th position, through the FLT North West Division League 1, the Reds were classed as 3rd seeds.

With the competition taking place at the Leeds Futsal Arena on Tuesday 10th February, the draw has pitted the Reds in Group 5 alongside table topping North East side Scunthorpe United, North Midlands side Nottingham Forest & local rivals Burnley, with the top two from each group qualifying for the last 16 and the bottom two entering the newly formed FLT Futsal Plate.

Sport Development Officer and Futsal Coach Chris Mullen explains “after the experience of going down to Birmingham last year and facing the likes of Derby & Reading in the inaugural Soccer AM Cup, I think the lads have learnt an awful lot. Along with the new batch of first years we have taken on this year, we feel really confident that we can head over to Leeds and cause some real upsets!”

Good luck to all of our Futsal Scholars and fingers crossed for a top two finish to make the last 24!
