Trust Celebrate 8th Birthday

Accrington Stanley Community Trust, the multi-award winning official charity of the Football Club, is celebrating its 8th birthday this week.

In eight years, the charity has raised over £2.5million and with this has been able to develop and deliver a varied repertoire of projects and programmes, successfully engaging a staggering 15,000 people in the last 12 months across the areas of Hyndburn, the Ribble Valley and Rossendale.

Investing in frontline provision across our four key themes; sport participation, health, social inclusion and education, the charity has enjoyed unprecedented growth in all areas. In June 2018 the charity won the Hyndburn Community Business of the Year Award for the second time in three years which was a fantastic achievement.

Participation Figures 2017

Accrington Stanley Community Trust now employs 11 full time individuals from the local area, with a further 15 part time staff members.

Martin Fearon, Chief Executive Officer of the Trust added: “Over the past 12 months we have continued to grow, building on a solid foundation that first started in September 2010. Year on year we continue to surpass our targets and it has been another fantastic year for the charity.

A big focus has been the planning of our proposed new multi million pound sports hub facility in Accrington. We believe that by creating better facilities and having a fit for purpose base for the charity, we can deliver even more projects in our community and achieve amazing outcomes that will change local people’s lives. We plan to be here for the long term and this facility will help us achieve our ambition of becoming the leading community engagement charity in the borough.

Sports Hub Facility

We have some exciting plans next year which include a range of new sport and education provision as well as a brand new sports hub facility proposal for the town. We have also secured funding from the Premier League, National Lottery and Sport England which will be invested into new and existing projects.’’
