Trust Teams up with The Free Kicks Foundation

Accrington Stanley Community Trust is delighted to announce that thanks to The Free Kicks Foundation we have been able to offer 7 local children the opportunity to be an Accrington Stanley Mascot, meet the players, play on the pitch and walk out before a game with their favourite player.

The Free Kicks Foundation is a Peterborough based charity whose aim is to provide football-related activities for ill, bereaved and disadvantaged children, to give them a day to remember with their favourite football club.

Steve Thorpe and Sam Downing who run the charity on a voluntary basis for the last 11 years have provided over 800 matchday opportunities for children and adults throughout the country. They raise funds through fund raising activities and by their supporters.

The first of our Free Kicks games is the home fixture against Peterborough Utd followed by 6 more games throughout January, February & March.

Steve from the foundation explains ‘Free Kicks Foundation are delighted to be partnering with Stanley Trust and the football club to provide seven deserving children with mascot packages this season. We have successfully worked with a number of Community Trusts around the country and are looking forward to meeting the first recipient on 29th December’

Head of Sport at Stanley Trust Lee Walsh is delighted with the initiative ‘thanks to the Free Kicks Foundation we have been able to offer mascot packages to children that for a variety of reasons wouldn’t normally get the chance, it’s going to be brilliant to see these children enjoying the experience’

Please keep an eye out in the matchday programme for more information about each of the 7 mascots.
