Walking Football with Stanley Community Trust

If you’re over 50 love playing football and like to try new activities then Walking Football is for you!

Walking football has quickly becoming the sport to play! The Community Trust teamed up with Age UK Lancashire to provide the sessions which began in January 2015. It’s a low intensity, non-contact game designed to increase your cardiovascular fitness as well as being a great way to meet new groups of people.

The rules of walking football are similar however there are a few differences. The free kicks are indirect, kick-ins replace throws, there are no offsides, the ball must be kept below head height and as the name suggests the participants must walk rather than run or jog.

If your coming back from an injury or just looking for something to get you out the house then why not come to one of our sessions.

‘Walking football is a brilliant way to get fitter, make new friends and even re-live those childhood memories” explains Lee who coaches the session. ‘We are looking for our nifty fifties to rediscover their competitive side and join us every Friday!’

The Community Trust run sessions every Friday at Hyndburn Leisure Centre at 1.30pm till 3pm which includes a brew and biscuit.
