Work has officially begun this week on the construction of two new covered padel courts at Stanley Sports Hub, marking another major milestone in the continued development of the community facility.
The new courts will be the first dedicated padel facility in Accrington and represent the latest investment in the Hub’s ambition to provide high-quality sport and physical activity opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.
Once complete, the covered courts will allow year-round play, ensuring players can enjoy one of the world’s fastest-growing sports regardless of the Lancashire weather. The facility is expected to attract both experienced racket sport players and newcomers looking to try padel for the first time.

Importantly, the covered courts will enable year-round participation and ensure the facility can be used whatever the weather.”
The project forms part of the ongoing expansion of Stanley Sports Hub, which has already seen more than £4.5 million invested into creating one of the area’s leading community sport and wellbeing facilities.
Alongside providing a new sporting offer for the area, the courts will also generate income that can be reinvested into Accrington Stanley Community Trust’s charitable work, supporting programmes that improve health, education, inclusion and community development across Hyndburn and the surrounding area.
Construction is expected to continue over the coming months, with further updates on progress and opening dates to be announced in due course.
