Saturday saw our first ever Armed Forces Summer Fair.
We wanted to celebrate Armed Forces Day and create something appealing to promote the work of local veteran charities including VIC and Royal British Legion, as well as our veteran programme. The summer fair is the latest addition to our veteran project, supported by the Veteran foundation we also run a breakfast club and a social and kick about.
Over 100 people visited Stanley Sports hub and take part in the activities that we had going on such as a bouncy castle, military vehicle local business stalls and face painting to name but a few. As well as the fabulous Amara Jade performing thoughout the event.
Organiser Gabby Sabatino commented, ‘What an absolutely incredible day! It was fantastic to have so many families come down and support our Armed Forces Summer Fair. Not only was it great to promote our local businesses but also for local Veterans Charities to promote their success stories and inform people of all they do in the community. After such a success, this will hopefully be an annual event that can grow each year with the continued support of the community.’
All donations from the day went to Veterans in the Community (VIC). VIC are an amazing charity that support ex service personnel and their families who have or are having difficulties with returning to civilian life or just want to socialise with like minded people.
