Football Education Scholarship Open Evening Tonight

Football Education Scholarship Open Evening Tonight

Accrington Stanley Community Trust will be running an open evening on Tuesday 3rd November 2015 for people wanting more information on our very popular Football Education Scholarships.

The event will start at 6:15pm from the Hospitality Suite at Accrington Stanley FC’s Wham Stadium. Parents and students are welcome to attend on the night.

Accrington Stanley Community Trust introduced a Football Education Scholarship programme in September 2012. This is a unique opportunity for 16-18 year olds who enjoy football to pursue a 2-3 year Scholarship. We have a maximum of 30 places each year which will see us produce four Futsal teams and an 11aside English Colleges Category 3 team.

Staying at School or going to college is not the right choice for everyone, but you can still gain a first class education that will get you to university by choosing neither of those. If the idea of staying on at school or going to college is not for you, then why not consider studying your education here at Accrington Stanley and playing Futsal and 11 aside football for the club?

We will ensure that learners are fully prepared for the future as the scholarship includes a full-time education package incorporating:

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (worth up to 3 A Levels) – Allows access to university and further study as well as opening the door to a coaching career. For students that don’t achieve the minimum GCSE requirements we also run a BTEC Level 2 in Sport as a pre course for 12 months before studying for the BTEC Level 3.

During the Scholarship you can also earn qualifications that will help you gain employment in the sport and leisure industry; as well as training and completing in a professional football environment for Accrington Stanley against other clubs in the Premier League and Football League.

As a key element of the FA’s strategy to develop the game and produce players capable of representing England, Accrington Stanley Community Trust are now offering this exciting and innovative programme. Learners will receive high quality Futsal and 11aside football training for a minimum of four hours a week. Training will be supplemented with regular fixtures against other professional clubs. Each year we will also send two scholars to represent Accrington Stanley at England national team trials.

The course is based at Accrington Stanley Football Club in the hospitality lounge, with all of the 11 aside matches taking place at Hyndburn Leisure Centre and the Futsal matches at Leeds Arena. The hospitality lounge is a non-traditional learning environment situated in the football stadium and is equipped with the latest laptop computers and other digital equipment to aid learning in unique ways.

Please arrive in plenty of time so that we can start the presentation at 6:15pm. For those wanting to sign up on the night we will be conducting a series of interviews which will determine if you are offered a scholarship.
