Wednesday 8th March our local school cup winners St Veronicas went to Doncaster to represent Accrington Stanley for the Kinder + Sport Kids Cup Northern finals against other League 2 sides.

St Veronica’s journey in the competition saw them beat St James the Less on the Accrington Stanley pitch then they played the winner of the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley cup Edisford primary school who they also defeated.

At the competition they got off to a good start by beating Blackpool 1 – 0, unfortunately the matches against Doncaster Rovers, Carlisle United and Crewe Alexandra resulted in defeats and saw them sitting fourth in their group. The winner of the group ended up being Carlisle United who then went on to win the competition.

Elle Kayley our Female Football Development Officer who accompanied the school to Doncaster said, ‘The boys played brilliantly throughout the competition and were unlucky on the day not to have gone further in the competition. They should be really proud of themselves as they have represented Accrington Stanley really well.’
