Players Surprise Peel Park

Children at Peel Park Primary School got a surprise today when they were visited by Stanley captain Seamus Conneely and winger John O’Sullivan.

The year five class have been completing the Move and Learn Project with Accrington Stanley Community Trust. The project teaches youngsters the importance of eating well and having a healthy lifestyle. The Stanley duo took part in a Q & A session about their diets and training regimes. Questions included ‘how many times a week do you train?’ and ‘what do you eat as a special treat?’ To which Seamus answered ‘Chocolate’ but only on a Saturday after a win!

The children also received an Accrington Stanley poster which they were able to get signed by the players.

The +Sport Move and Learn Project is part of Ferrero’s global Kinder + Sport initiative designed to encourage active lifestyles in children across the world and has already reached 15 million children. Now in its third year, the programme has to date been delivered in 776 schools, with 43,577 children impacted. To build on this success, this year 616 schools and 37,000 children will be reached.

Over the course of six weeks, children from year 5 classes spend 45 minutes in the classroom learning about the body, nutrition and the importance of exercise, through participating in interactive activities. The second half of the 90 minute session is dedicated to playing football, dodge-ball or handball, with two weeks sp
ent on each sport. For more info regarding the project please email: josh.cooper@stanleytrust.co.uk or call 01254 304071
