With Christmas not that far away, here at the Trust and at the Football Club we have been spreading the festive spirit.
Over the last few weeks Winstanley and the first team players have been making Stanley fans Christmas by making appearances at the switch light ons, posing for photos and meeting fans. It seems that even the local law enforcement isn’t immune to the Stanley charm!
Winstanley continued to spread the festive spirit over the weekend as he visited Altham Christmas fair as well as surprising the children at the Accrington Stanley Supporters Club children’s Christmas party.
We continued to spread the festive spirit as Accrington Stanley’s first team accompanied by Winstanley visited the Royal Blackburn Hospital children’s ward to bring festive cheer to the ward. They were loaded up with lots of goodies including signed shirts and footballs to pass out. Winstanley seemed to be just as big a star as the players themselves with the younger children putting smiles on the children’s faces.
Martin Fearon, Community Manager commented, ‘It’s fantastic to be asked to attend the local Christmas light switch ons. It enables fans to meet some of their favourite players as well as allowing the players to meet the fans that support the team throughout the season. The players also enjoyed their surprise visit to the children’s ward at Blackburn Hospital as they wanted to try and bring a bit of Christmas cheer.’
