Stanley Sports Hub Extension Works Progressing Well

Stanley Sports Hub Extension Works Progressing Well

This autumn has seen the start of our £1million Stanley Sports Hub extension, with works commencing on 5th September.

The extension will home an extended café, large indoor activity space alongside 3 additional classrooms, multiple training and meeting rooms to cater for education, employability, health & wellbeing and local community groups. An outdoor seating area and a balcony will be created to provide fantastic elevated views onto the 3G pitch.

The steel work went up rapidly through late September showcasing the layout of the building, followed by the metal deck being laid for the first floor with the stairs being installed at the same time in early October.

Mid October saw the floors being concreted and the roof being installed with the end of the month seeing the building blocks being delivered ready to build the external and internal walls.

The first floor now delivers great raised views of the 3G and grass pitches while the view from the ground floor café will allow spectators the chance to shelter from the Accrington weather while watching the action on the 3G through floor to ceiling windows.

November will consist of cladding works and a few weeks of block walls being built around the perimeter and internally.

Martin Fearon, CEO of Accrington Stanley Community Trust, commented: ‘’The building works are going well and are on track for a March 2023 handover. Readstone Construction are doing a great job in minimising disruption whilst the works go ahead.’’

Not only has the beginning of Autumn seen the extension works commence, the grass pitches have been receiving a new £150,000 irrigation system ready for the spring time.
