Disability football makes its long awaited return to its new home at Stanley Sports Hub, Thorneyholme Rd, Accrington, BB5 6BD
We encourage anyone who loves football to come along and give it a go. All staff that deliver the sessions are fully trained and are confident working with a mixture of abilities.
A typical session starts with a warm up, a fun based football activity such as dribbling followed by a small sided game and to finish the session with a penalty shootout!
The aim of the sessions are to provide a safe and fun environment for anyone with a disability that wants to play football but may feel intimidated playing in a mainstream session. It’s a great way to meet new people while keeping active and can help build self-esteem and confidence.
Lauren Turner commented,’ ‘I’m so glad that our adult disability football session is returning, it is one of my favourite sessions. We have so much fun learning new skills and then putting them in to practice with a competitive game. Everyone is always full of energy and ready to learn, I see constant smiles throughout the session and that makes me very happy as a coach. One of my favourite parts of the session is seeing all the different goal celebrations during the match.’
Sessions commencing Thursday 10th June at 1pm for an hour costing £2 per session.
