Job Title:                            Detached Youth Worker

Responsible to:                Head of Community Engagement

Salary:                                £9.50 – £12.10 (depending on qualifications/experience)

Status:                               Zero Hour Contract (9hrs a week available)

Location:                             Hyndburn and Ribble Valley

Accrington Stanley Community Trust are looking to recruit experienced, motivated and committed Youth Workers who are passionate about establishing and maintaining positive relationships with young people across Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.

Applicants must be individuals how are experienced, committed and innovative youth workers who bring creativity, energy and strong youth engagement skills to supporting young people’s development.

Reporting to a relevant Lancashire County Council Youth Worker, successful applicants will work in partnership with LCC to assist in the delivery of detached youth services, supporting the LCC Lead with an area of curriculum or service for a targeted group of young people. These young people can present complex issues and behaviours which may include anti-social behaviour, substance misuse, offending and significant risk taking

They will deliver high quality informal education prevention and early intervention opportunities for young people to help achieve their personal and social development, make informed decisions, have a place in their community and, ultimately, to reach their potential and make a successful transition to adulthood.

Candidates need to demonstrate:

  • Flexible application of working hours predominantly operates outside core daytime working hours.
  • Establish boundaries and challenge inappropriate behaviour during group based programme delivery.
  • Develop a relationship with young people based on respect and trust, ensuring they have a safe place to develop their identity and place in society.
  • Work alongside and support LCC staff to deliver programmes related to the needs of young people.
  • To attend any training identified as necessary by your line manager as part of your personal development programme.
  • To adhere to the Club’s policies at all time, with particular emphasis on Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety and Child Protection.
  • To report any behaviour, conversations or comments which are inappropriate within a setting for children and young people.

 

The successful candidate (s) will have:

  • A Level 2 Qualification at Youth Support Worker Level
  • Relevant level of safeguarding training as identified by the Lancashire Children’s Safeguarding Assurance Partnership (CSAP)
  • Relevant level of First Aid
  • CRB/DBS Clearance
  • Flexible approach to working

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with young people individually or in groups and in a variety of settings which demonstrate the ability to quickly engage young people, establish rapport and maintain positive relationships.
  • The ability to develop, plan, monitor and evaluate programmes of work appropriate to the different needs, abilities and interests of young people.
  • Knowledge of providing interventions for young people.
