Winstanley has been busy making appearances this week. He visited Barden Primary School, where he was sharing his healthy lifestyle mission with the pupils. Over two days Winstanley and the Trusts coaches spoke to students about the importance of eating in moderation and the importance of incorporating exercise into their daily routines.

He also made a guest appearance at St Johns primary in Great Harwood and at St Marys Clayton Sports at their fun days, where we had our inflatable goals for the pupils and their families to test their shooting skills. Alongside this a five a side tournament was held for both pupils and parents.

Amy Bland, Female Football Development Officer commented ‘It was lovely to see families enjoy themselves through sports and for us to be a part of it’.

While Winstanley has been busy out and about, back in the office our newest recruit Scott has been busy recruiting 16 to 17 year olds on to our National Citizenship Service (NCS) summer programme.  If you would like to spend four weeks of your summer doing something amazing then get it touch! We will be going to The Lake District for a week where there will be outdoor activities as well as spending a week at UCLAN in Preston where you will do a mixture of activities such as first aid training and CV skills. The last two weeks you will be based at Accrington Stanley Football Club where you will plan and carry out a social action plan, for example a canal walk for a charity.

‘We want to get as many local 16 to 17 years on to this programme so they don’t miss out on this opportunity. It is something that can only be done once and in this age range. It can counts towards UCAS points and is a recognised qualification by employers and universities’ said Scott Watling, Assistant NSC Officer.

If you are interested and want to do this once in a life time opportunity then we want to hear from you at Kathryn.hoyle@stanleytrust.co.uk and scott.watling@stanleytrust.co.uk or ring  01254 304071.

At Redz this week we had fun making fruit kebabs. Everyone brought a piece of fruit that we cut up and shared with the group to make some colourful healthy kebabs. They tasted as good as they looked! After washing sticky hands we used the remaining whole apple as treasure and took turns in hiding it around the room and found that the children knew more hiding spots than the coaches! If you would like your child to come and have two hours of fun for only £1 then pop down to the hospitality lounge at Accrington Stanley Football Club every Wednesday at 5.30pm!
