Over the last few weeks we have had work experience pupils from local schools join us to experience a working week.

Last week we had Mohammed Choglay from Mount Carmel who shadowed several members of the team from seeing what we do in the office such as preparing for our holiday courses to sorting out the results of our soccer league as well as going on several coaching sessions in the local area. He was able to attend the East Lancs Peoples First Tournament at New Era where he assisted Amy by being Winstanley.

‘It has been a really good week. I enjoyed going on the sessions with the coaches and having the opportunity to be Winstanley,’ commented Mohammed Choglay work experience student.

This week we have had Billy Delaney from All Saints with us, like Mo he has been shadowing different members of the team. Billy had the opportunity to be part of our training session that we have for our scholarship students, as well as spending the day at St Peters fun day assisting the coaches with the games that they lead. On his final day Billy got to experience a game of walking football with the participants at our Friday session.

Billy said, ‘I have enjoyed this work experience because I have felt like part of the team and have been treated well. I have really enjoyed myself’.

We look forward to welcoming Drew Worsley next week, he will be joining us from Ribblesdale for two weeks.

Mascot package

If your child is under 12 and wants the experience of leading Accrington Stanley out for a match then this is the package for them! The mascot experience includes the following benefits:

• VIP treatment for the mascot, meet Winstanley, the staff and the players (at manager’s discretion).
• Chance to have your photograph taken with a player in the tunnel prior to kick off (at manager’s discretion)

At redz we have been getting creative, we have decorated ginger breadmen and transforming paper plates into different creations! As well as being crafty we have been getting active with games of dodge ball and football. If you would like your children to come and meet new friends come and join us at Accrington Stanley Football Club on Wednesday at 5.30pm for two hours of fun for only £1!

We may have been busy launching the mascot package and Junior Redz membership, but we haven’t forgot the summer holidays are almost up on us! Parents will now have the option to book 9am-3pm or 9am-5pm as we have extended the hours that all holiday course run starting this summer.

‘We know that during the school holidays some parents find it hard to find affordable local activities that cover the working day, which is where our holiday courses come in. Both the soccer schools and activity club allow children to have fun during their holidays while allowing parents to continue with their busy schedules. We hope that by extending our hours more local parents will take advantage of our courses,’ commented Lee Walsh, Sports Development Officer.

The cost for both options are:

9am to 3pm – £45 for a week when booked online or £10 a day

9am to 5pm – £60 for a week when booked online or £13 a day
