  1. Job Summary (The main purpose of the job)

This post involves leading, organising and delivering on all practical aspects of the Football Education Scholarship programme.  A key area of the role will be to create and implement a successful training programme for our scholars who are all aged 16-19 as well as being the head coach on match days in the English Colleges Category 3 league.

This role also requires the recruitment of future students onto the scholarship as well as leading 8 futsal satellite clubs in Hyndburn, Ribble Valley and Rossendale.

There is also an expectation for the post holder to deliver a range of further school and community activities. The role will include regular liaison with schools, and grassroots football clubs across Hyndburn, Ribble Valley and Rossendale as well as the Youth Academy Department within Accrington Stanley Football Club.  This role also requires the holder to work under the jurisdiction of the Sport Development Officer and Community Manager.

There is also an expectation that the Football Development Officer will hold a minimum of UEFA B Licence football coaching qualification.  In addition, 1 year previous experience working with the 16-19 age category is essential.  The role also requires a dedication to work on weekends, evenings and ASFC match days should the charity require. There is a minimum requirement for the holder to have a full valid UK driving licence with business insurance as travelling across East Lancashire and other areas will be part of this role.

  1. Duties

8.1 To manage and lead the practical element of the Football Education Scholarship programme.

8.2 To develop an engaging and successful season long training programme for scholars aged 16-19.

8.3 To be the scholarship head coach on match days in the English Colleges Category 3 League and Futsal fixtures. This will involve allocating students to the relevant squads on a weekly basis and liaising with parents to ensure everybody attends.

8.4 To manage and deliver the Futsal Satellite Club projects.

8.5 To deliver regular holiday course activities.

8.6 To assist the delivery of ASCT activities which take place at all Accrington Stanley Football Club home fixtures.

8.7 To take a lead role in the recruitment of future students onto the Football Education Scholarships.

8.8 To support the Sport Development Officer and Community Manager on any new or existing projects when required.

8.9 To assist the Education Officers when required with support on the BTEC Level 2 and 3 theory modules.

8.10 To provide the Community Manager and Sport Development Officer with monthly reports, which will enable all sport related activity to be effectively monitored and evaluated and collect accurate information that will be entered into the Football League Trust’s data management system in order to monitor participation and the delivery of activities involving young people.

8.11 To support the creation of promotional materials that will enable the effective advertising of all sport related activities to local schools and grass roots clubs.

8.12 To attend meetings and CPD events when required to by the Community Manager.

8.13 To promote the brand of Accrington Stanley to increase awareness in both the Community Trust and the Football Club.

Minimum Requirements:

  • UEFA B Licence Coaching Qualification
  • 1 year’s previous experience working with the 16-19 age group.
  • Full valid UK driving licence with access to car during work hours
  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent

Desirable

  • Academy coaching experience
  • FA Youth Modules
  • FA Goalkeeping Qualifications
