Friday Night Football Comes to Hyndburn

A new project begins in Hyndburn this Friday, with free football available for 14-19 year olds at Hyndburn Leisure Centre, every Friday for at least the next 12 weeks.

The scheme aims to provide a constructive activity for young people to take part in. Steve Tanti, Chief Executive of Hyndburn Leisure said, “We often hear from young people in our centres that they have nothing to do over the weekend. We want to give young people something positive to do, and have teamed up with Accrington Stanley Community Trust to do just that.”

The scheme will run Fridays 6-8pm for at least the next 12 weeks and will be completely free of charge to 14-19 year olds from anywhere in Hyndburn. Coaches from Accrington Stanley will deliver quality coaching and informal competitions. Martin Fearon, Community Manager at Accrington Stanley Community Trust said, “If you’re looking for something to do on a Friday night, come down to Hyndburn Leisure Centre on your own or with your friends and get involved in Friday Night Football.”

Funding for this scheme has been provided by Clive Grunshaw, Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner as part of his commitment to defending front line policing, protecting vulnerable people, tackling crime and re-offending and championing victims’ rights.

Friday Night Football begins this Friday, 1st April, 6-8pm on the new 3G pitch at Hyndburn Leisure Centre. 14-19 year olds can just turn up and play, or call Accrington Stanley Community Trust on 01254 304 071.
