Monday 7^th march was the regional finals of the Football League Trusts Kids cup. The annual event involves the winners of local primary School competitions representing their town’s football team against other winners. Representing Accrington Stanley was St Leonards Langho. St Leonards won the local completion earlier in the season and where placed in a group with winning schools from hosts Morecambe, York City and Carlisle Utd.

The year 5/6 pupils played brilliantly through the group stages against some very good teams eventually drawing all 3 of the group games to qualify for the semi-finals. They were up against a very strong team representing Mansfield Town and unfortunately lost 2-1. Mansfield Town went on to win the trophy beating Morecambe in the final.

The children from St Leonards Langho did a brilliant job of representing Accrington Stanley and they all should be very proud of the way they played and conducted themselves throughout the tournament.  Perhaps this isn’t the last time we see them wearing a Stanley shirt!
