Our Little Stanley Kickers sessions are gaining momentum. The sessions held on a Saturday morning for 2 to 4 year olds, allows the parents to interact and help their child while working together develop their skills. The sessions follow a familiar format each week, as regular routines help children to feel secure and gain confidence. Children and parents also get the opportunity to share those first unforgettable, goal-scoring adventures. ‘Its brilliant to see so many parents and children bonding while keeping active at such a young age. Hopefully someday we will see the children on the pitch!’ commented Lee Walsh Sports Development Officer.

Meanwhile this week has seen the NCS spring programme have been carrying out their social action plans that they developed last week.

The groups had to develop the social action plans themselves. This involved deciding on an action that helped the community and every member of the team agreed on. Team one decided that they would help ‘Help for Hero’s’ charity by being sponsored to spray their hair pink as well as doing a sponsored walk from Blackburn to Accrington Stanley Football Club along the canal! While team two decide that they would go to a local care home Lyndon house and serve tea and coffee to the residents while putting on a game of bingo!

While away on the residential trip at Kepplewray Adventure Centre in Broughton in Furness, the teams worked together through outdoor activities such as abseiling, canoeing, rock climbing and ghyll scrambling. Kathryn Hoyle, NCS Officer stated ‘it’s amazing to see young adults challenging themselves while making new friends’.
