Summer H.A.F Project Wraps Up

Summer H.A.F Project Wraps Up

Over this Summer, we teamed up with Hyndburn Borough Council to deliver the Holiday Activities & Food (H.A.F) Programme and last week marked the final day of it!

The Holiday Activities and Food Programme is a government funded project run through local councils supported by local providers to provide what’s needed to help the community. The project aimed to make free holiday course places available for children who are eligible for benefits-related school meals during the summer aged 8-16.

We delivered the project successfully over the last 4 weeks, providing endless fun and access to a healthy lunch and sports sessions led by professional coaches in a safe and fun environment to the most financially impacted families in our community.

The project has been vital in supporting local families during the school holidays which, for many, is a difficult time due to increased costs and bills. The activities the children can get involved in with the H.A.F programme are great for developing skills in a friendly and social environment.

Olivia Taylor, who has been coaching the H.A.F project, said “It has been fantastic running the HAF programme over the summer. Giving children access to a healthy meal and an opportunity to socialise; learn new skills and play new sports has been extremely rewarding. The programme is important for those in the local community and the success of it over the summer shows how valuable it is to offer these free holiday courses to support families”

We look forward to hopefully continuing to deliver this great and necessary project going forward!
