Trust to feature on South Korean T.V

This June we have been visited by a film crew from South Korean TV channel EBS. The channel are producing a documentary about how children’s literacy was effected by the pandemic and highlighting projects that are having a positive impact on children and their reading habits. A section of the documentary will focus on our involvement in local Primary Schools and particularly our ‘Read The Game’ project which uses football resources such as match day programmes, player profiles, interviews etc.…to engage children who wouldn’t regularly pick up books for pleasure.

A full day of filming took place at St Peter & St Paul’s Primary School in Rishton, where the cameras captured a couple of our workshops along with a PE lesson and the school’s sports day. The crew interviewed our project workers, along with the head teacher Sara Clarkson, teachers and pupils. A second day of filming took place at Stanley Sports Hub and The Wham Stadium. Here the production crew captured all the work that goes on behind the scenes to make projects such as this one happens.

Our Head of Sport & Health, Lee Walsh was surprised to get the initial invitation ‘it was a very random initial email to receive and to be honest I thought it was spam to begin with, after I also received a phone call and did some background research it soon became apparent that this was a documentary, we would be proud to feature in. We hope the project can inspire similar projects around the world as we all aim to get children’s education back on track following the pandemic.’

“It was a pleasure to be a part of the documentary with EBS and an amazing opportunity for the children to be involved with. It’s always lovely to see the positive impact projects like Read the Game can have on the participants over time and hopefully this documentary can shine a light on just how much a little extra support can do for them and hopefully inspire other organisations to get involved as well.”commented Brigan Young,

The documentary is set to aired on South Korean TV and online in the Autumn. We will share the final edit as soon as we can.
